The Wireframe Exhibition

For week 5, Cay and myself (Nicole) had our first site visit and meeting with the landlord. The potential site venue our was looking at was the 5 Roxburgh St. (Mount Victoria) space. We first found site advertised on shared space and we think location is accessible, being at city centre. The concept of having a house for our initial pitch 'Behind the Facade' was appropriate for our theme.  The feedback for our space had a few problems to deal with like fireplace, curtains and the domestic appeal of the space. These distractions may affect how we present our artworks. We met Denise (landlord) on our first site visit. We liked the look of the space, as much as it is domestic, it does give a gallery vibe with high cielings, white walls and the constrast of the black floor help give that gallery vibe (even with some distracting elements).  We manage to discuss with Denise our plans and what can possibily be altered on the space.

Possible location 1 This spot looks like a house but I kind of like how it is both a house and a gallery. It kinda fits with the theme of how people deal with mental illness and it is often at home where people are really vulnerable. This is still not set,  also thinking about the dates week 9 or week 10 September 28th -30th or October 5th-7th. Changing minds mental blocks art exhibition I found this exhibition around the topic of mental illness. I like how the audience were able to interact with the work and how there is a variety of mediums. This also brought up the idea of creating a retrospective video for the exhibition.

For Week 3's class, we visited Adams Art Gallery and got some advise from the curator on how they conceptualised the exhibition, the details/logistics that the usual big galleries deals with and how some of these may be encountered by us students as we set up own exhibition. We found it interesting to hear and see how an exhibition came about. Details like wall text and catalogue were also quite intriguing in the sense we were able to think about how we didn't like how the catalogue of Adams Art gallery was done. We found it hard to find and read which art work's text belongs to and it got distracting for us. For our exhibition, we wanted an easy access to information and make the experience more simple.
